Tata's Sierra EV price list is upside down. The cheap one is the fast one.
Two batteries, eight variants, and a power ladder that runs the wrong way. Read the small print before the range figure.
- The Sierra EV's 63 kWh pack makes 238 hp. The larger 75 kWh pack makes 209 hp.
- Eight variants, ₹18.79 lakh to ₹25.99 lakh ex-showroom, deliveries from 15 July.
- Only the ₹25.99 lakh dual-motor car adds a front motor, 504 Nm and a claimed 5.8 seconds to 100 km/h.
- The 7.2 kW home charger is in none of those prices. It is another ₹49,000.
Two battery packs, eight variants, and the cheaper one is the quicker one. Tata's price list rewards a second read.
Tata launched the Sierra EV on 30 June 2026, eight variants spanning ₹18.79 lakh to ₹25.99 lakh ex-showroom, with deliveries from 15 July. The 63 kWh pack drives the rear wheels through a 238 hp motor and Tata's brochure claims 566 km on the MIDC cycle. The 75 kWh pack claims 665 km, and makes 209 hp. Only the ₹25.99 lakh Empowered A adds a 140 hp motor on the front axle for 504 Nm, all-wheel drive, six terrain modes and a claimed 5.8 seconds to 100 km/h in Boost mode. Six airbags and Level 2 ADAS run across the range.
So the entry car is the quick one and the expensive one is the far one, and you only get both at the very top, where the claimed range drops back to 624 km. It is not a misprint. A smaller pack is a lighter pack, and Tata has tuned the 75 for distance rather than launch. You just do not often see a range ladder and a power ladder pointing opposite ways on the same page, and it means the cheapest Sierra EV is not the slowest one. Worth noting too that every price here excludes the 7.2 kW home charger, which is a further ₹49,000.
