An AMT is a normal manual gearbox with an electronic actuator that works the clutch and changes gear for you. Maruti calls it AGS. It is the cheapest automatic and fuel efficient, but you feel a pause and a forward nod at each upshift.
Fine for budget city driving; if the pauses bother you on a test drive, look at a torque converter or CVT.
