FASTag is an RFID sticker on the windscreen, linked to a bank account or wallet, that pays national highway tolls automatically as you drive through. It has been mandatory since February 2021, and dealers usually fit one at delivery. Since April 2026 national highway toll plazas take only FASTag or UPI, and paying by UPI without a working FASTag costs 1.25 times the toll.
