A strong hybrid still runs on petrol; its battery and motor cut fuel use, especially in traffic, and you never plug it in or plan charging. An EV runs only on electricity from a battery you charge, so it is cheapest per km and silent, but you need reliable charging at home or work and must plan long trips around fast chargers. EVs pay 5% GST and often lower road tax; hybrids are taxed like petrol cars.
