BYD took ₹8 lakh off the Sealion 7. The bill came to 11kWh and a head-up display.

The Sealion 7 Dynamic opens BYD's electric SUV at ₹41.90 lakh with a 71.8kWh Blade pack, 520km and eleven airbags still in the box.

  • The Sealion 7 Dynamic costs ₹41.90 lakh, ₹8 lakh under the Premium.
  • The cut is 82hp and 10.8 kWh before anything else, then the head-up display, two speakers, an inch of wheel and a handful of comfort kit.
  • Level 2 ADAS, eleven airbags, the 360-degree camera and the rotating screen all survive into the cheapest trim.
  • Between ₹40 and ₹50 lakh, India's electric market is almost empty, and BYD now owns most of it.

India's most crowded price band for petrol SUVs is a ghost town for electric ones. BYD just parked another car in it.

BYD launched the Sealion 7 Dynamic on 20 August 2026 at an introductory ₹41.90 lakh ex-showroom, a third trim below the ₹49.90 lakh Premium and the ₹55.90 lakh Performance. It runs the smaller 71.8kWh Blade pack, rear-wheel drive and 231hp, with a claimed 520km and 0 to 100kph in 7.3 seconds. BYD quotes that range on the NEDC cycle rather than an Indian one, so treat it as a ceiling. What survives the cost-cutting is the interesting part: eleven airbags, Level 2 ADAS, the 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, the panoramic glass roof, the 360-degree camera and ventilated powered front seats. What goes, before any of the kit, is power: the Premium makes 313hp to the Dynamic's 231, a quarter of the output gone with the smaller pack. After that it is the head-up display, the gesture tailgate, powered lumbar, a PM2.5 filter, two speakers and an inch of alloy wheel.

₹8 lakh for that list is a bargain, and it lands in a strange gap. Of the 184 pure-electric variants the axler8 recommendation engine currently scores, exactly four sit between ₹40 lakh and ₹50 lakh, spread across three nameplates. The Dynamic makes five, and two of those three nameplates are BYD's.

Cheapest way into the badge, and almost nobody else is standing there.
