ARAI mileage is the fuel economy certified by a government-approved test agency, such as ARAI or ICAT, when the car is approved for sale. It is measured in a laboratory on a set driving cycle with an urban part and an extra-urban part, so every car is tested the same way, but it does not predict your own mileage.
