An EV battery warranty covers the high-voltage battery for a set time or distance, commonly 8 years or 1,60,000 km, and usually promises only that its capacity will not fall below a threshold, often 70% of new, rather than that the battery is fault-free. Some 'lifetime' warranties apply only to the first owner: Kia's is 15 years for the first owner of some EVs and 8 years or 1,60,000 km for a second owner.
