The e-CVT in Toyota's strong hybrids is not a belt CVT. A planetary gear set splits the petrol engine's power between driving the wheels and making electricity, and with two electric motors that gives a smooth, stepless feel. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Innova Hycross are among the cars that use it.
