In Delhi NCR, a 2015 tribunal order, upheld by the Supreme Court in 2018, bars diesel vehicles more than 10 years old and petrol vehicles more than 15 years old from the roads. Since December 2025 the Supreme Court has let the authorities act only against BS-III and older vehicles while it reviews the rule, so BS-IV and newer cars are not seized for their age alone for now. The rule has changed several times, so check the current position before buying a diesel in NCR.
