An EV's claimed range is how far it travelled on a full charge in the official ARAI test (the MIDC cycle, under the AIS-040 standard), with a new battery in controlled conditions. Real-world range is usually noticeably lower, especially at highway speeds, with the AC working hard, or in very hot or cold weather.
