Standard warranty vs Extended warranty

The standard warranty comes free with the car, for example 3 years or 1,00,000 km at Maruti. An extended warranty is a paid plan bought at purchase that continues similar cover after that, for example up to 6 years or 1,60,000 km. It is worth more for cars with expensive electronics or automatic gearboxes and for high annual distances; read the km cap and exclusions before paying.
