Diesel engine vs Turbocharged engine

Diesels pull strongly at low engine speed and give better mileage on long highway runs, so they suit high annual distances. They cost more to buy, and modern BS6 diesels use a particulate filter (and often AdBlue) that works best with regular longer drives; mostly short city trips can clog the filter. Petrol cars are cheaper to buy and quieter, and suit lower annual distances and city use. In Delhi NCR diesel cars have a 10-year age limit, though since December 2025 the Supreme Court has held back action against BS-IV and newer cars while it reviews the rule.
